Entry into Elite-Non Winter Swimmer

If you or your swimmers is interested in Elite and has not yet trained year round with another USA or YMCA swimming team, entry into Elite is done thru tryouts.

   At tryouts, swimmers will be asked to swim 3 times: 1) free and 2) and 3) are the swimmers choice of back, breast and butterfly. These swims are timed.

    In addition, Elite coaches will take each swimmer into a lane and watch the swimmer perform their strokes in a more relaxed, non-race situation.

    Between the times achieved and the review of the strokes, Head Coach Bill Deatly will place an accepted swimmer in the appropriate training group. From there, swimmers will be promoted into higher training levels thru commitment (see attendance/promotion page) and thru training with the top swimmers in their training group.

    The next Elite tryouts on Tuesday, Sept 8th at 4:30 pm at Newark Academy.
